Report of the Abbé Pierre Foundation: Thomas Rudolph reaction

Rudolph Thomas, Head of Housing in the Shadow Cabinet, responded to the annual report of the Fondation Abbé Pierre. "Given this fact, all politicians must take action today," he called. Abbé Pierre Foundation has released its 16th annual report and the report is alarming: the housing conditions of the French deteriorate day after day. With 3.6 million French people badly housed or homeless, France indecent displays a table for a country as developed and obviously housing is not a priority for this government. This situation can be like trying to justify the government clumsily, the mere consequence of the economic crisis. It is rather the result of policies pursued for over 5 years who have ruled out the weakest and the middle classes of access to housing:
- The steady state funds for housing production Social since 2007 (- 20 percent), even though local authorities and elected officials were ambitious projects including the support of the state was expected to complete these operations.
- The doctrine of "all owners in France" advocated by Nicolas Sarkozy has led to soaring property prices in big cities and therefore has excluded more and more middle class of home ownership.
Faced with this terrible situation of the Fondation Abbé Pierre, all politicians must respond, the government in supporting the many projects of housing production carried by local officials that they wanted was an abundance of state, the regions by setting up regional plans for housing to ensure sustainable production of housing and social mix.
On this subject, the French do not expect dogma, or fighting together against the block, they just want a roof dignified and sustainable. Hérouville St. Clair
Calvados General Council Head of Housing and Urban Policy in the Shadow Cabinet
